At Sole Bay Waste Management and Recycling Services, we are exploring ways to improve our relationship with the environment. The UK tails many neighbouring countries with respect to waste disposal, which needs to be streamlined drastically to ensure waste is recycled wherever possible. Too much of our country's waste ends up being funnelled into landfill due to a lack of waste separation at source.


Much of the UK remains without the option to dispose of food waste separately at home, therefore vast amounts of our collective general waste is food waste and is taken to landfill. Here, it emits methane (a powerful Greenhouse Gas) into the atmosphere, thus contributing to man-made climate change. Other problems caused by landfill include soil and water contamination, large scale land misuse, and disease which can affect and be transported by wildlife.




Separate food waste collection allows us to take food waste to an Anaerobic Digestion Facility, where it contributes to production of biofuels and bio-fertilisers, which we see as a far better option.


We see food waste as a resource rather than as a waste product; to be used to produce energy and soil improvers for agriculture.








During the first two weeks of operation, we have diverted just over 7 tonnes of food waste away from landfill and towards production of Biogas and agricultural fertilisers at an Anaerobic Digestor.
